“Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is a non-profit, volunteer-supported 501 (C)(3) organization operating in partnership with Cuyahoga Valley National Park and is committed to the preservation of passenger rail transportation, providing environmental, natural and historical education, and fostering tourism, recreation, economic development and expansion in Northeast Ohio. Tracking through a natural transportation corridor that Native Americans used for over a thousand years, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad operates on the same track laid in 1880 for the Valley Railway Company to transport coal from south of Canton to the growing industry in Cleveland. Due to the imaginative partnership with Cuyahoga Valley National Park, CVSR is pleased this year to be celebrating its 35th year of passenger service! Climb aboard and travel from Rockside Station in Independence, through CVNP to the canal-era Village of Peninsula, on to Akron or even to the city of Canton. Stay on board to see the beauty of the national park from vantage points you cannot see from walking or driving, or combine your trip and visit one of the unique attractions in Akron or Canton. Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad operates all 12 months of the year, offering alternative transportation in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, as well as Bike Aboard! service for bikers using the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. In addition to regularly scheduled excursions, CVSR also presents popular special events throughout the year, including A Day Out With Thomas ™, Grape Escape – Wine Tasting Trains, Polar Express™, The Little Engine That Could™, and more!
